Women's Wellness

We're alongside you as you journey towards wellness

Where we began

People from all walks of life experience trauma, anxiety, depression or other mental illness during their lifetime.

The Wise Group established Iris – now called Women’s Wellness – in Hamilton in 2005.

At the time, women experiencing the effects of depression and trauma were limited to clinical services catering for severe situations. Women’s Wellness and The Monastery filled the gap, providing a holistic and nurturing approach to supporting women, away from a clinical setting.

In May 2011, The Monastery began providing free five-night wellness retreats to people directly affected by the Canterbury earthquakes. In January 2012, Women's Wellness began offering its services from within Pathways, a leading national provider of community-based mental health and wellness services.

Throughout its history, access to Women's Wellness services has remained publicly funded for women aged 18+ years. That means Women's Wellness services are free!

For us, it’s important that all women, no matter what their financial situation, can access our services as they journey towards enhanced wellbeing.

“The person I was when I started with Women’s Wellness to the person I am now is hugely different. Panic attacks and anxiety are still part of my life. They are, though, minimal and manageable rather than controlling my life.”
